Being tourists for a change.

Since my last blog post (we won't talk about how long ago that has been) we have been terribly busy.  Life isn't slowing down.  Anyone else having that problem?

The kids and I have had a flying visit to Melbourne.  I thought they had better do something educational while there seeing we missed a couple of days of school.  Here they are in an amazing bookshop we found while exploring Melbourne's little laneways.

We also visited the Museum.
Mr Nine wanted to see Phar Lap.  Mission accomplished.

I love how they have displayed all the animals in this room below.  It looked a scene from A Night in the Museum where everything comes to life.
There is so much to see and do in Melbourne, we are always rushing around visiting family when we go so it was nice to take a day and be a tourist.  The kids had a ball.

We also did a little adventuring on the weekend just gone.  We got up early Sunday and headed south to do some exploring.  We found these great ruins at Maldon of the North British Mine Site.  Its fascinating to think what used to be here.  Below are the openings to the kilns.  Here's a link to some of the history.

We also stopped at Vaughn Springs to let the kids run off some energy.  Theres a great slide there.  Pretty spot too with the red autumn leaves still on the liquid amber trees. Worth stopping if you are in the area.  There's a mineral water pump there too, I can't say I'm a fan.  Blah.

Nothing crafty going on here.  Although this wet, windy weather is making feel like quilting so stay turned.
